Audiopile Review: Seems like only yesterday when Pacific Rhythm’s own Derek Dee was dropping off copies of his Rhythms of the Pacific series, but here we are 10 years later, celebrating a milestone for the local institution. This victory lap is a 12” sampler of unreleased material, representing both the earliest days of the label and the more recent era, and it’s appropriately kicked off by LNRDCROY, who helped launch the label with a pair of tracks on the inaugural Rhythms of the Pacific comp. He reps the label well with the warmest blush of ambient-house, segueing into Khotin’s luxurious magic hour dance track issued under his rarely used Waterpark guise. The B-side represents the latter half of Pacific Rhythm’s history, with one of the more recent contributors to the label, Kennedy, and his knotty rendition of glowing Italian house exemplifying the Vancouver sound to a tee. And then the short-lived Active Surplus come out of the woodworks with a propulsive stunner to send us off into that warm Vancouver summer evening. Here’s to another 10 years! Edition of 300, sold out at the source.

Pacific Rhythm’s “Rhythms Of The Pacific” series returns with a 12” sampler of material that will be included as part of a larger 10-year anniversary compilation later this year. Tunes from LNRDCROY, Khotin (under his Waterpark alias), Active Surplus, and Kennedy are on deck to set the tone. Essential material for enthusiasts of the sound Pacific Rhythm has cultivated since 2013.
