First dispensed in 1997, in close proximity to his outstanding debut LP as Metamatics for Clear, Norris birthed the Norken project as a more explicit love note to classic Detroit and Chicago house, as filtered thru the rosy lens of UK techno and electronica. It still stands as a best in class example of those late ‘90s energies in effect with a low key guile and lip-biting depth that persists in turning the ‘floor to a lather.

‘P Fox’ swings first with breathiest, tongue-tip choral pads swept with keys and fruitiest bassline balanced between early Convextion and Gemini, while the blushing pads of ‘Southern Soul’ follows with achingly lush levels of Carl Craig style melancholy and B12-like introspection, and he leaves us by a thread with the blissed kiss off ‘Spring Theme’ on a nimble hardware techno tip a la In Sync (RIP).
