A stunner of a record – one that’s funky, but full of surprises as well! We’re not sure how to read the “toe rag” on the cover, but we can tell you that the set’s a killer from the funky Shawn Lee – a set of live instrumentation, and one that uses all the many percussion instruments pictured on the cover! The vibe is very different than most of Shawn’s other records – more spontaneous and earthy, as Lee works with four other percussionists, and adds in a bit of piano himself – while the group move through these ever-shifting rhythmic patterns that are as tribal as they are funky!
