Ilian Tape don’t really do the obvious – and the self-titled disc from MPU101 tantalisingly dodges any discernible form. As minimal and mysterious as the record seems, there’s a lot going on under the hood; synth kosmische soundscapes are sent straight from the aether on the likes of ‘800pbp8492’ and ‘J800latinGrass’, which are about as spacey as they sound, while rhythmically dense numbers ‘260078_2’ and ‘A8 Basslines’ are nothing short of lovely electro mutations, with more than a hint of acid liquidity injected.
