Regular fixture Samuel Belay and –his tremulous vocal- star on the damn-funky ‘Qèrèsh Endèwaza’ whilst the organ-fuzz driven blues of ‘Ené Nègn Bay Manesh’ by Girma Bèyènè would sound just perfect as the OST on a Ethiopian remake of Scorsese’s Casino. Gétatchèw Mèkurya’s ‘Gèdamay’ (from Ethiopiques Volume 14) wraps up the comp in a flourish of saxophone virtuosity.
