Previously unreleased spiritual jazz from Norway from the mid-seventies. Playful rhythmical jazz with modal and Latin influences with band members from That’s Why, Ruphus and En Tiempo. Jan Simonsen Quintet was a Norwegian jazz group active in the mid-seventies. Drawing up influences from Herbie Hancock to McCoy Tyner, the group’s very rhythmical approach fell positive with the crowd and landed them regular gigs at the famous Club7 venue in Oslo. The group also performed at Molde Jazz 1976. In winter that same year the group recorded these four tracks to reel, using the Asker church for maximum reverb effect and broadened acoustics. Jazzaggression is pleased to present these 4 tracks on vinyl for the first time. The vinyl comes in special heavy paste-on sleeve with a printed inner sleeve containing full story and photos. Limited to 500 copies!
