‘Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain’ was an ambitious album when it came out, featuring a wide cast of contributors including James Blackshaw, Sasha Grey, Andrew Liles, Alex Neilson, Matt Sweeney, Andrew W.K., Steven Stapleton and others. Its grumbly doom metal undertones – Tibet had collaborated with Om not long before its recording and their influence can certainly be heard – didn’t appeal to everyone, so this relatively pared back re-imagining might come as a treat for the naysayers.
Using additional material recorded at the time (Tibet describes it as “outtakes and intakes”) he constructs four untitled, long-form pieces, obscuring the original album’s themes behind frozen drones and celestial instrumentation. Released to coincide with Tibet’s London Channeling earlier this Spring, it’s sure not to stick around for long.
