The legendary Mr Fingers aka Larry Heard teams up with Memphis producer Michael Kuntzman and vocalist Madeline for a new project called Fingers N Flowers on his own imprint Alleviated Records. The trio’s self-titled debut EP takes a couple different cracks at the sort of sensuous, yet burly deep house goodness Heard has been cooking up for decades, albeit presented with a (somewhat) cleaner sheen with a more precise churn than his typical rollers. The vocal mix of opener ‘Between Us’ simmers with a sumptuous groove and some bright electric pianos, while the “Summer Acid Burn” take on ‘Reel It In’ keeps things locked tightly in place.
