Heinrich Muller is one handle among many for Gerald Donald, revered co-pilot of the Drexciya vessel and author of some of the greatest electro records ever made. Five years on from the first volume of his ‘False Vacuum’ compilation, this one racks up another 13 laser-guided missiles that hail the diversity of his solo output over the past decades, from avant-garde electrophysix to proper club rockers, which are often one and the same.
Exclusive to the set are the likes of his warped wave-shaping Dopplereffket remix for ‘Somehow’, a synth-pop song by Rough Days For Diamond Trade, and the brilliantly queasy, slackened Heinrich Mueller Continuum remix of White Car, the duo of Elon Katz & Orion Martin, plus the limb-folding triplet reset of Yan Wagner’s EBM cut ‘Forty Eight Hours’, which all exemplify his willingness to work with young and new electronauts over the years.
Attention is also firmly due to his Rudolf Klorzeiger remix of Dollska’s ‘So Long For a Small Storm’, a gorgeous example of his nostalgia for ‘80s wave musics, and no doubt an old fave of ours in his rudely lagging rework of Duplex’s ‘Autosug’, and the nerve-twitching stop/start club killer remix of ‘Woman’s Scent’ by Cisco Ferreira (The Advent), while also introducing us to slept-on zingers in a Z Therapy remix of the awesome Ultradyne, the soaring ‘Lamb Shift’ slant on Kirk Degiorgio’s As One, and nasty remix of The Exaltics’ ‘Instinct’.
