Audiopile Review: Freshly inked pseudonym from the prolific Dutch producer best known as Mammo, adopting the Fabiano moniker for this 2xLP set that diverts from his usual axis of dub/bleep/IDM/-techno hybrid 12”s that have been coming fast and furious across his many aliases over the past few years. Coinciding with another 2xLP set just issued under Mammo (the incoming General Patterns, stay tuned for that one!), Landmarks sheds his smart, calculated beatwork for a slow descent into the depths of prickly ambient and beatless wonderment. With the new moniker and the album’s seven lengthy tracks spread across two LPs, Landmarks gives a wide berth to explore territory that Mammo and his varying guises had previously only touched upon. That room to experiment is evident from the outset, with “Peregrines Will Carry You Over The Hills” opening the album on a more abstracted note of submerged radio interference that eventually gives way to a rising sparkle of lush melody and dubby signals. Landmarks gathers steam as it moves on to the Chain Reaction-like pulsating whir of “Dreams Of Silent Gardening Machines” and the granular synths twinned with the effervescent tones of “Saturated Memory Of A Rooftop”. The album’s finest moment is its final track, concluding on the magnificent “M.net 103’s Impossible Turn”, it’s submerged ambient-techno giving way to glacial overtones and cyber-punk noir jazz.  While his various monikers come and go, here’s hoping he’s not done as Fabiano.
