‘Agita2, the new EP from DNGDNGDNG aka Dengue Dengue Dengue, in a style true to only them, casts a new sonic world for you to delve into.
The lead single, also entitled ‘Agita2’, invites you into its watery depths with a dark allure, drawing you into an introspective yet expansive dance experience. ‘Calentao’ serves as an aggressive re-awakening – with its distorted kicks, disjointed breaks & harrowing siren calls accompanied by a deadly bassline, this is perhaps the EPs hardest cut.
‘Petroglypho’ hones in on the underlying feeling of macabre on the EP & wears it on its sleeve, with its wriggling synths & pulsing bass distortion, it is as club ready as it is eerie. Passing the the mid way point ‘Paxagone’ lies between the territory of the first 2 cuts, tougher than ‘Agita2’ & more hypnotic than ‘Calentao’, the track perfectly flows between hard & hypnotic. Tying the release up, ‘Ratra’ unleashes the once submerged darkness in a flurry of double time drums that’s remnant of Singeli as much as it is of Doble Paso Reggaeton. ‘Ratra’ feels as if the duo finally reveal their full unhinged energy to bring the EP to an end.
Felipe Salmon & Rafael Periera carefully lure you into a forgiving Venus Flytrap, spitting you back out once they are done with you. Ensnaring you & releasing you after, it’s a masochist musical experience that will keep you coming back again & again.’
