Audiopile Review: ddwy returns after 2024’s fantastic Spinning Stones with another brief delight in the form of Beaming Backwards—four cuts of dreamy, dubby, and groove-heavy bliss that feel tailor-made for summer’s waning hours. This time around, a deeper dream pop influence runs through the haze, with hints of Broadcast-like ambient psychedelia shimmering beneath the surface. Hypnotic ’90s Balearic grooves meet deep house foundations, while jangly guitars, washes of synths, featherlight vocals, and pulsing rhythms give the record a sun-dazed momentum. Fans of ZG, Kelly Lee Owens, or Yu Su will feel right at home in these otherworldly environments. The finale throws a gentle curveball: a quiet moment of intimacy featuring gorgeous strings, an infectious piano loop, and near-whispered vocals, a perfect cool-down for when the heat fades and the night winds down.
