Home to the underground singles “Check the Vibe” (featuring R&B singer and future wife Adriana Evans) and “Back in the Day,” Dred Scott’s (named after the slave who unsuccessfully sued his master for his freedom in 1857) golden era 1994 debut Breakin’ Combs smoothly mixes jazz, funk, and hip-hop, with a socially consciousness and humorous flow. A great blend of styles, stories, and personality, Tuff Break Records closed its doors the following year, putting the record out of print and ending Dred’s deal.
