Recorded live at The Renaissance in Hollywood, CA on Oct 14 1960, Ben Webster “At the Renaissance” was released on Contemporary Records. Featuring with Saxophonist Webster are Jim Hall (guitar), Jimmy Rowles (piano), Red Mitchell (bass), and Frank Butler (drums). This new edition, released as part of the Acoustic Sounds Series, features (AAA) lacquers cut from the original master tapes by Bernie Grundman and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at QRP, and presented in a tip-on jacket.
“This is a live, direct-to-two-track analog recording with no overdubs. As such, there are a few slight audible glitches inherent in the recording. Most notably, you will hear a zip or scratching sound at several points on the “Stardust” track, most notably at times 1:54, 2:00, 5:38, 6:22, 9:20 and 10:12. This is a recording flaw and not a defect in your pressing. We hope that this minor noise will not distract your enjoyment of one of the greatest live jazz recordings of all-time.”
