“Dream patterns” is a sound exploration of modular synthesis with a hardware live set approach. Astro Concept’s debut album is a series of edited live recordings from late 2021 in Berlin. It combines synth and sample based arrangements with generative melodies conveying grooves and blissful moods.

The album title refers to several different concepts. “Dream patterns” is a dream machine. It ascends you by means of rich arpeggios, soulful melodies, soundscapes and textures into dreamy science fiction-like states of mind.

The album also in a way explores the human mind versus the mind of machines. Don’t we all follow thought patterns as machines follow algorithms? It asks the question of the existence of (human-like) beauty in automated sequences. At what conditions can generative patterns feel natural? Can pure chaos, ongoing randomness be beautiful? A certain degree of repetitiveness, a pattern-like structure might be key for our brains to comprehend beauty.

“Dream patterns” is at the same time human and machine-like,
it’s soulful and dark, it’s dreamy and deep.
