The prolific Frankfurter who runs his own record label, Fax, and records under enough aliases to fill a Thompson directory, has come up with a work to prove his thesis. Written in cahoots with ambient DJ Dr. Atmo, ‘Silence‘ junks the Apollo mission samples and twittering nature noises in favour of winding melodic loops and synthetic textures. And no doubt it’s due in part to Atmo’s Middle Eastern background that ‘Garden Of SDreams‘ and ‘Santur‘ boast brilliantly subtle mantric qualities a million miles from the usual booming dub effects. It’s this inspiration that makes ‘Silence‘ more than just another chill-out album. Even The Orb could do worse than look here for guidance. A laidback landmark.
