Audiopile Review: Sault, UK producer Inflo’s nebulous weirdo-soul project, continues to confound and beguile. ‘Acts of Faith’ is a spiritually rapturous album that, in classic Sault style, somehow mixes stark ESG-style grooves with Curtis Mayfield-level lushness. Truly doing god’s work, Inflo and pals manage to achieve the musically impossible on every song, and often get it done within the space of two or three minutes. In an age of pre-set, prefabricated sounds, Inflo is an inspiration. He can keep things just as raw as they need to be while paying close, close attention where it matters. Not as stripped-down or eccentric as some Sault releases, ‘Acts of Faith’ is a buttery-smooth treat from start to finish. Great choons. Doubtless, it will be followed by an eight-hour album of atonal choral compositions and slam poetry. And that too will be improbably brilliant.

Acts of Faith is the eleventh studio album from Sault. Originally previewed in December 2023 at a one-night only concert in London (which was the group’s first performance). Infectiously funky, Sault’s surprise project Acts of Faith is a kiss of deep soul and modern-day gospel, further solidifying Sault as a once-in-a-lifetime act.
