Emotional Rescue is delighted to again present the music of Glen Ricks, finally reissuing his solo debut release, the classic and highly sought after Disco Reggae cut, Keep On Dancing.
After the success of reissuing, I’ve Been Waiting For You in its Boogie and Digital Reggae form back in 2019, this a joyous and welcome addition. Following a successful career in The Fabulous Flames, Glen Ricks (born Ricketts) having spent time between Canada and Jamaica, finally settling in the Caribbean to pursue his music.
Teaming up with writer and producer, Chris Stanley, Keep On Dancing first appeared on 7” in 1981, before released as a 12” a year later on the Mountain Sound label. Ricks again hits an infectious groove, a pure uplifting party tune through and through. The mix of Ricks’ soul voice with bumpin’ Boogie groove, with some hazy and lazy JA swing, this has become a diggers dream with prices to match.
Again, the label offers a special reversion, once more bringing the studio maestro, Idjut Boys’ Dan Tyler to serve up his NAD alias, providing a heavy dub-laden Discomix. Coming in two parts, a long-form flipside that teases and stretches the vocals, percussion, guitar and horns, all dosed in layers of reverb and space-echo, to accompany the incredible original. Keep on dancing, keep on singing.
