First self-released in 2016, and created following the unique creative process brothers Mark and Clive Ives adopt when making music as Woo – tapping into their incredibly spacious musical archives, the pair select sounds that complement each other, then create new albums from them, overdubbing the existing tracks or even adding newer contemporary music – Robot X was born out of snippets of recordings made on a 4-track tape machine in the late ‘80s. Tapes at hand, the brothers Ives started reflecting on the imminent nature of humanoid robots, a concept that, together with a beloved sci-fi classic (Terry Gilliam’s Brazil), proved the main inspiration behind Robot X. Now reshaped and released on vinyl and CD for the very first time, Robot X tells a story of retro-futuristic visions through proudly experimental instrumentals, combining a deluge of musical influences and offering something that is, quite remarkably, deeply layered and minimalist at the same time. As Bandcamp Daily once noted, “to enter into Woo’s world is to step outside of your own notions of time.”
This album is also being offered as a double album set with the newly expanded reissue of their ‘Xylophonics’ album, both in CD and two colors of vinyl along with digital download.
