Diego Herrera (Suzanne Kraft) and Anton Pieete summon a studio poltergeist in their maiden union as Ghostbusters for the yung Amsterdam label, Wake Dream.

The ‘Open Mouth EP’ presents four tracks of scurrying rhythms and playfully phantasmic concrète/electro-acoustic wizardy that models and relays their findings from a session  “spent all night investigating strange goings-on at a farm cottage, only to find squirrels.” It’s some of the freakiest work we’ve heard from the fella best known as Suzanne Kraft, with the variable factor of Anton Pieetes, a longtime Amsterdam DJ and producer, perhaps steering Kraft into this more unruly sound.

Starting out all spectralist, akin to Jan Jelinek meets Bellows, the groove congeals into plasmic forms by the end of the opening title track, and firms up grimier, brittler bones and twanging ligament in the scuttle-funk of ‘Liever Niet’. With ‘Limo’ they invoke comparison with Chris & Cosey’s most ritualistic studio abstractions, and ‘Cleaner’ polishes off the suite with a fine play of glancing chord pads and baubly, offbeat rhythms that dance in their gently possessed ether space.
