Vivian Koch delivers the latest addition to its wildly varied discography with Beyond Contact – four tracks of richly layered, futurist club music. Tracks like ‘Lil Birdy Starts to Fly Again’ & ‘Enter’ sound like a cross between Vangelis and Call Super – widescreen synth symphonies punctuated by deconstructed breaks and glitched percussive flourishes. ‘Closed’ comes closest to being a traditional club track with its stepping, punchy drums and dnb-esque LFO bassline, but it’s gaze stays poised skywards with layered galactic pads.
